Dawn of the Jungle

Dawn of the Jungle is the first work in a diptych inspired by my Filipino heritage and the breathtaking wilderness of the Philippines. Bathed in the first golden light of morning, the painting imagines the jungle as a living, enchanted realm—beautiful, untamed, and alive with unseen movement.
Soaring above the forest is the Philippine eagle, one of the country’s most powerful and endangered creatures. Known for its strength and fierce presence, the eagle watches over a landscape increasingly threatened by deforestation. Its companion piece features a long-tailed macaque resting high within the trees, representing the delicate balance between predator, prey, and the environment they share.
Together, the works celebrate the wonder of the Philippine jungle while reflecting on the fragility of the species that call it home. Through this series, I sought to reconnect with my heritage and honor a natural world that feels both deeply real and touched by magic.
